The accidental expat blogger behind Rosy Harbor Nest

Hi, I'm Chloe
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. I’m an expatriate living in Lille, France.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't in the plan for the long term. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far larger.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more tangled than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, unease, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet, gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Rosy Harbor Nest
Most online resources were either corporate relocation tips or superficial travel material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap—with practical guidance drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical knowledge gained from living in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- not a tourism authority resource
- a sponsored review platform
- a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in France continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Lille or anywhere in France, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Chloe
